Athletic Meet in India is an important way to make sure that proper talent hunting process is made possible. This is a system which also helps young and fresh talents to hone their skills and get ready to compete at the highest level.

 Athletic Federation of India (AFI)Athletics is actually the amalgamation of a number of track and field sports. It is quite popular in India, as the people loves taking part in various Athletic events in India. Athletics came into existence in India during the Vedic Era, when the people used to take it as part of their exercises for maintaining fitness. There are several Athletic associations in India that organise different Athletic meets. All the Athletic meets in India are being organised with an objective of recognising new talents and nurturing them to make them world class athletes.

The Athletic meet in India is actually divided into three main parts; the district level, state level and national level. The district level athletic meet in India enables young and raw talent of the villages and backward part of the country to showcase their skills. Many juvenile talents, aspiring to make it big someday, participate in the district level games. If these people show promise and potential then they are made to compete at the state level, where the rivalry is even more as all the participants are strive to make it big and show their worth to get a call to represent their country at the national level. The entire chain is properly worked out and the ultimate control lie at the hands of Athletic Federation of India (AFI), who is the main governing body in India.

The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) is the national body for governing and supervising all kinds of Athletic-related activities in India. Apart from AFI, there are also several state Athletic associations that are working in collaboration with AFI for the well being of Indian Athletics. The state Athletic associations also organise various Athletic meets to bring up new talents from the grass route level. The main objective for AFI is head hunting. Searching new talent and proving them with enough opportunity to showcase their skills and talents. Improvement of infrastructure and provide adequate facility to the athletes is also one of the main function for AFI.

The Athletic meets in India are organised in different levels, like junior, senior, men`s or women`s. There are some age-wise Athletic meets organised in India, as well. The meets are organised at the district level, state level and also in the national level. Apart from that, all the schools in India also organise their respective annual Athletic meets. The Indian Athletic associations organise many international Athletic meets as well, where several internationally acclaimed athletes come and take part.

Many Athletic meets in India have earned recognition and reputation in the international level. Some of the major national level Athletic meets in India include the Indian Grand Prix, National Youth Athletics Championships, Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships, Federation Cup National Junior Athletics Championships, North East Zone Junior Athletics Championships, North Zone Junior Athletics Championships, West Zone Junior Athletics Championships, South Zone Junior Athletics Championships, East Zone Junior Athletics Championships, National Inter Zone Junior Athletics Championships, National Throws Meet, National Sprint Meet, National Endurance Meet, National Open Athletics Championships, National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships, National Inter District Athletics Meet, National Junior Athletics Championships, National Cross Country Championships etc. Apart from that, the Indian Athletic associations also organise some other Athletic meets in India that include the State Athletics Championships, the District Athletics Championships etc.
