
The Government of
Rajasthan has duly emphasized higher education in the state. The state has nine universities and more than two hundred and fifty colleges, fifty five thousand primary and seven thousand four hundred secondary schools. There are forty-one engineering colleges.
There are also Sanskrit, Ayurveda and agricultural universities in Rajasthan. The universities of Rajasthan are: Amity University, Indian Institute of Technology, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jaipur National University, Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women`s University, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Mewar University, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, National Law University, NIMS University, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Rajasthan Ayurveda University, Rajasthan Sanskrit University, Rajasthan Technical University, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Singhania University, Sir Padampat Singhania University, Suresh Gyanvihar University, The LNM Institute of Information Technology, University of Bikaner, University of Jodhpur, University of Kota, University of Rajasthan, University of Udaipur, Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University.

University of Rajasthan is the oldest university of Rajasthan and derived its present name in 1956 from the University of Rajputana. Jai Narain Vyas University also known as University of Jodhpur was established in 1962. Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University is a university in Kota, established on July 23, 1987, and was initially known as Kota Open University.
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University is located in
Ajmer city of Rajasthan state and one of the most popular education centers, following the principles of the great philosopher Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati. Rajasthan also boasts another popular university located in
Bikaner, called the University of Bikaner. The university was established in 2003 and marks a significant milestone in the development of tertiary education in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan Agriculture University in Bikaner, consists of six colleges and teaching is split between two campuses. National Law University of
Jodhpur is a sovereign Law University in India and committed to the cause of providing Legal Education, through various under-graduate and post-graduate courses of law. Other than the mentioned ones, there are also many more universities in Rajasthan.
