S. B. Patil Dental College, Bidar, KarnatakaThe Shri Galangalappa Patil Dental College or the S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC) is a famous medical institution in Karnataka. The college is situated in the district of Bidar and was established by the Somanath Educational Trust in 1991. The main objective of the college is to impart knowledge to the students of Karnataka, irrespective of their caste, creed or social status. The college also responds to the great need of today`s professional courses that are completely practice oriented. The college is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), New Delhi and is currently affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangaluru.

The S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC), Bidar has been imparting knowledge by laying more emphasis on learning updated techniques for the preventive aspects rather than the orthodox concept of disease control. The college follows the traditional Gurukul method and has maintained a similar atmosphere with lush green, peaceful ambience outside and the advanced state of the art technology within. The college is aimed at providing the right blend of environment for the students to bring out their best talent, so that they can achieve outstanding performance and get recognition.

The S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC), Bidar offers several degree and diploma courses to the students, mainly at the undergraduate level. The main course offered by the college is the undergraduate course of Bachelor in Dental Science (BDS). The college also offers the diploma courses like Diploma in Dental Mechanics and Diploma in Dental Hygiene. The SBPDC, Bidar admits several students in the courses and 50% of the total seats are reserved for the merit quota. The rest of the seats are filled by the Government of Karnataka from among the students appearing for the Common Entrance Test (C.E.T.). The 50% seats that are earmarked to be filled by the management are filled from the students, who appeared for the UG COMED-K Entrance Test.

There are certain rules and regulations that the S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC), Bidar follows for admitting the students. The students are required to have passed the two years Pre-University Examination or Equivalent with and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to the first year, for getting admission in the college. The candidates are also required to have obtained a minimum 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.

However, there is a relaxation of 10% in the aggregate marks for the candidates coming from SC/ST categories, who want to get admitted in the S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC), Bidar. The students are required to have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the competitive entrance examination where such examinations are held, for getting admitted in the SBPDC, Bidar. Apart from the required minimum educational qualification, the candidates are also required to be aged at least 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. Courses Offered:

The S. B. Patil Dental College (SBPDC), Bidar has a well equipped and nicely furnished dental hospital within its premises. The hospital is situated in a three-storied building and it has a large number of departments that are helping in providing quality treatment to the people of the state. Some of the major departments of the hospital include the department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Periodontics with Preventive Dentistry, Prosthodontics including Crown an Bridge & Dental Materials, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Preventive and Community Dentistry, and Oral Pathology and Microbiology.
