The KGF College of Dental Sciences and Hospital is a renowned medical institution in the state of Karnataka. The college is situated in the district of Kolar and is recognised by the State Government of Karnataka and the Dental Council of India (DCI), New Delhi. The college came into existence in the year 1992 and it is currently affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangaluru. This is the only dental college in the district of Kolar. The college was established and is being run and managed by the educational trust, named Sambhram Charitable Trust. The main objective of the trust is to address the growing demands for high quality human resources worldwide.

The main objective behind establishing the college was to make dental health education of international standards, available in India. The KGF College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Kolar offers the undergraduate course of Bachelor of Dental Sciences (BDS), with an annual intake of 60 seats. The course is divided into four years of academic studies and one year of internship. The BDS degree of the college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). The college imparts knowledge on General Human Anatomy including Embryology and Histology, General Human Physiology and Biochemistry, Dental Materials, General Pathology and Microbiology, General and Dental Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Human Oral Anatomy including Histology & Embryology, Pre-clinical Prosthodontics, Pre-clinical Conservative Dentistry, General Medicine, General Surgery, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Orthodontics, Pedodontics, Preventive and Community Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Conservative Dentistry including Endodontics, Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Periodontics are taught as part of the BDS course.

There are some certain criterions for the admission in BDS course of the KGF College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Kolar. The students desirous of getting admitted in the course are required to have passed the two years Pre-University Examination of Pre-University Board of Karnataka with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidates should obtain at least 50% of the aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. The students, who belong to SC and ST, are given a relaxation of 10% in the aggregate marks required for eligibility. The candidates are also required to secure a minimum of 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the competitive entrance examination where such examination are held for selection. Apart from that, the candidates are required to be aged at least 17 years at the time of admission or will be completing this age on 31st December of the year of admission.
