The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) is situated in the city of Bangaluru in Karnataka and it is considered to be a top medical institution in the state. The college was founded with a view to offer medical education to the students of the state and also to provide quality treatment to the people of Karnataka. The college is presently affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangaluru and the Bangalore University, and is also recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The college is being operating under the auspices of the Vokkaligara Sangha that was founded in the year 1960.

The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangaluru offers different courses in several branches of medical science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main undergraduate course offered by the institute is MBBS that is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. The MCI inspected the institute and expressed satisfaction with the facilities and recognised the institute permanently for training 120 students annually for MBBS course. The students willing to get admitted in the MBBS course in KIMS, Bangaluru are required to pass 2 years P.U.C.

Apart from the undergraduate courses, the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangaluru also offers a large number of postgraduate courses. The major postgraduate courses offered by the institute include MD in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Community Medicine, Medicine, Anaesthesiology, MD Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry etc. The institute also offers MS in the disciplines like Anatomy, Surgery, Orthopaedics, O.B.G., and ENT. The institute offers the other postgraduate courses like DCP (Pathology), DCP (Paediatrics), DCH (Pediatrics), DA (Anaesthesiology), DGO (OBG), DOMS (Ophthalmology), D.Ortho (Orthopaedics) and D.L.O. (ENT), as well.
