Trained with the motto, "Valour and Wisdom," at the NDA and Indian Military Academy (IMA) the Indian army personnel dedicate their lives in safeguarding the nation`s interest. During war situations it is the young and dynamic officers who fight it out at border. The Indian army personnel are quite particularly when it comes to following the hierarchy in Indian army. As fresh batches pass out from the army institutes they are recruited in the several regiments that are scattered throughout the country. Imbued with a deep sense of patriotism the soldiers carry out the orders of their seniors without any question.

Major Som Nath Sharma Discipline is an important attribute in the lives of the Indian army personnel. Gentlemen to the core, they should be role models for every civilian in the country. The Indian army personnel are designated as Sepoys, Havildars, Subedars, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel, Brigadier, Major-General, General and others. Amongst these the rank of the General is the highest in the set up of Indian army. The Indian army personnel have time and again proved to be an indispensable part of the Indian administration at the hours of utmost need. It is because of these personnel that the civilians in all corners of the country are leading an untroubled life.

Major Som Nath Sharma, Company Havildar Major Piru Singh, Captain Vikram Batra, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, Lt General Sundararajan Padmanabhan, K.M. Cariappa and several others are definitely some of the numerous Indian army personnel who have sacrificed their lives whilst serving the nation. Most of these army officers are martyrs and have been rewarded with Param Vir Chakra.
