Vidhu Vinod Chopra was born on September 5, 1956. He is an academy award- nominated Indian producer and filmmaker and makes a combination of commercial and parallel films. He is also the founder of Vinod Chopra Productions. Vidhu Vinod Chopra shot into fame particularly due to the Munna Bhai films.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra spent his childhood in Srinagar, Kashmir, India. He refrained from pursuing his Doctorate degree at Cambridge University and chose to study direction at the Film and Television Institute of India. He is married to a famous writer Anupama Chopra and currently lives in United States.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra`s film An Encounter with Faces in 1979 was nominated for an Oscar in the short, non-fiction film category. He is especially interested in offbeat films and has made a number of critically acclaimed films including Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, the Munna Bhai series, Parineeta and the recently released film, Eklavya: The Royal Guard.
