Sudhin Dasgupta went to Mumbai for the recordings of Sankhyabela. During those days Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar were busy recording the songs of 'Pakeezah' with Gulam Mohammad and Naushad. When Sudhin Dasgupta recorded the song "Ke Prothom Kaache Eshechi", a Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar duet, Naushad heard the song and marked it one of the best compositions he has ever heard. The film Shonkhobela (1966) was declared as a superhit. Sudhin Dasgupta's compositions rendered by Manna Dey "Ami agantuk" and "Aj mon cheche ami hariye jabo" sung by Lata Mangeshkar was very well appreciated by music lovers and is still some of the most remembered songs of those period. After Shonkobela, Manna Dey created an immortal combination in playback singing with the legendary actor Uttam Kumar. Sudhin Dasgupta composed music in notable Bengali films like 'Dak Harkara' (1958), 'Shonkhabela' (1966), 'Choddhobeshi' (1971), 'Har Mana Har' (1972), 'Teen Bhubaner Pare' and many more. Sudhin Dasgupta had unbeatable skills in the usage of westernized chorus and harmonization that was a rare usage during those days. He has also used baul songs, a type of folk song in rural Bengal in the song "ogo tomar shesh bicharer asay" for Manna Dey. He included a Karnatic touch in the song "bachao ke acho" in Chaddabeshi. Folk effect was heard in Sudhin Dasgupta's "rangila ranga dehe bhab jegeche" for Manabendra Mukherjee. Sudhin Dasgupta was also a brilliant lyricist. Some of his lyrics were as colourful as his compositions. Sudhin Dasgupta died on 8th January 1982. Films with Sudhin Dasgupta's Music
