Ranji Trophy, 2007-08, Knock out Matches
Delhi clinched the championship title in Ranji Trophy, 2007-08, while Gujarat remained the Plate Group champion.

The knock out level of the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 saw the participation of the top 8 teams that were coming from the four sub-groups of the Elite and Plate Groups. The top two teams from each of the sub-groups got the permission of the BCCI to play in the knock out level of their respective groups. The BCCI selected the teams on the basis of the points they earned from their respective group matches and the teams included the likes of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Railways, Baroda, Delhi, Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The first four teams were from the Plate Group and they played against each other in the Plate Group knock out level for becoming one of the top two teams in the group. The teams tried so, as the top champion and runners-up teams of the Plate Group were promoted to the Elite Group of the next year`s edition. On the other hand, the Elite Group teams played in the Elite Group knock out level with the aim of winning the eventual championship title.

The teams of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh played against each other in the first Semi-Final match of the Plate Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the two teams played the match at Delhi from 25-28 December, 2007. The Gujarat team played well in the match to clinch a victory of 159 runs and the team also entered into the Final of the Plate Group. The second Semi-Final match of the Plate Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 was played between the teams of Kerala and Railways and the match was held at Nagpur from 25-28 December, 2007. Though the match remained drawn during the specified period of time, the match officials declared the Railways team as the winner, as it was having a lead in the first innings of the match. The Railways team also reached the Final of the Plate Group from this match. Thus, the Gujarat and Railways teams appeared in the Final match of the Plate Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08. The match was organised at Mumbai from 05-08 January, 2008 and the Gujarat team won the closely contested match by a narrow margin of only 1 wicket. The Gujarat team also became the champion of the Plate Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08. The Gujarat and Railways teams got the permission to play in the Elite Group of the next year`s edition of the tournament, as well.

In the Elite Group, the first Semi-Final match of the Elite Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 was played between the teams of Baroda and Delhi and the match was held at Indore from 05-08 January, 2008. The Delhi team won the match quite comfortably with a margin of 7 wickets and reached the Final of the Elite Group. The teams of Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh played against each other in the second Semi-Final match of the Elite Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the two teams played the match at Baroda from 05-08 January, 2008. The Uttar Pradesh team reached the Final by winning this match with a good margin of 48 runs. Thus, the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh teams locked their horns together in the Final match of the Elite Group in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08. The match was organised at Mumbai from 16-19 January, 2008 and The Delhi team dominated the Uttar Pradesh team throughout the match. The Delhi team clinched a huge victory of 9 wickets in the match and clinched the coveted championship title.
