The Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh teams were the toppers in the Plate Group B of Ranji Trophy, 2005-06.

The 6 teams that played against each other in the Plate Group B of the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 were coming from different parts of India. The teams were mainly representing different Indian states in the most popular and premium domestic cricket tournament of India. The teams included the likes of Assam, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and they competed with each other very hard for becoming one of the top two teams in the group. The teams also gave their best efforts for securing a berth in the knock out level of the Plate Group and the teams like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh eventually did so from the Plate Group B. The teams earned the highest points from the group matches and competed with the top teams of the Plate Group A for becoming the champion of the Plate Group.

The teams of Assam and Kerala played against each other in the first of the Plate Group B matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 and the two teams played the match at Dibrugarh from 23-26 November, 2005. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Kerala team 2 points for the match. The Assam team could not earn any points from the match. The second match of the group involved the teams like Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand and the match was held at Jammu from 23-26 November, 2005. The Jharkhand team played very well in the match and clinched a huge victory of 9 wickets for earning 4 points from it. The Jammu & Kashmir remained pointless in the match. The Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala teams were involved in the fourth of the Plate Group B matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 and the match was held at Jammu from 01-04 December, 2005. The Jammu & Kashmir team earned 2 points from the drawn match and the Kerala team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Assam playing against each other at Indore from 01-04 December, 2005. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the Assam team earned 2 points from it. However, the Madhya Pradesh team could not earn even a single point from the match. Then, the Rajasthan team played against the Jharkhand team in the next match of the Plate Group B and the match took place at Jaipur from 01-04 December, 2005. The Rajasthan team earned 2 points from the drawn match and the Jharkhand team failed to earn any points from the match.

The match between the teams of teams of Assam and Jammu & Kashmir was the seventh of the Plate Group B matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 and the two teams played the match at Guwahati from 09-12 December, 2005. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the Assam team earned 2 points from the match. The Jammu & Kashmir team could not earn any points from the match. The Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand teams then appeared in the next match of the group and the match was held at Indore form 09-12 December, 2005. The winner of the match was the Madhya Pradesh team with a margin of 5 wickets and the team also earned 4 points from it. However, the Jharkhand team remained pointless in the match. The next match of the Plate Group B was played between the teams of Rajasthan and Kerala and the two teams played the match at Jaipur from 09-12 December, 2005. The drawn match saw the Kerala team earning 2 points from it and it also saw the Rajasthan team failing to earn any points.

The teams of Jharkhand and Assam played against each other in the tenth of the Plate Group B matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 and the match was held at Jamshedpur from 17-20 December, 2005. The Jharkhand team clinched a narrow victory of only 2 wickets in the closely contested match and earned 4 points from it. However, the Assam team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the group involved the teams like Madhya Pradesh and Kerala and the match took place at Indore from 17-20 December, 2005. The Madhya Pradesh team earned 2 points from the drawn match and the Kerala team failed to earn any points. The Rajasthan team played against the Jammu & Kashmir team in the next match of the group and the match was held at Jhalwar from 17-20 December, 2005. The match saw a see-saw battle between the two teams and the Rajasthan team eventually clinched a narrow victory of only 1 wicket in the closely contested match. The Rajasthan team earned 4 points from the match and the Jammu & Kashmir team could not earn even a single point from the match.

The Kerala and Jharkhand teams appeared in the next match of the Plate Group B and the match was held at Palakkad from 25-28 December, 2005. The Kerala team earned 4 points from the match by clinching a victory of 7 wickets and the Jharkhand tem remained pointless in the match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Rajasthan and Assam playing against each other at Udaipur from 25-28 December, 2005. The Rajasthan team clinched a huge victory of 9 wickets in the match for earning 4 points and the Assam team failed to earn any points from the match. The last of the Plate Group B matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2005-06 was played between the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir appeared in the next match of the group and the two teams played the match at Indore from 26-29 December, 2005. The Madhya Pradesh team clinched a huge victory of 10 wickets in the match to earn 5 points and the Jammu & Kashmir team failed to earn any points from the match.
