Raima Sen was born as Raima Dev Varma on November 11, 1979 to
Moon Moon Sen and Bharat Dev Varma. She is an acclaimed Indian film actress. She is the grand daughter of legendary actress
Suchitra Sen. Her sister, Riya Sen, is also an actress in the Bollywood industry. Their father Bharat Dev Varma is the scion of the former royal family of Tripura state. Her paternal grandmother Ila Devi, was the princess of Cooch Behar (in Bengal), whose younger sister
Gayatri Devi happens to be the Maharani of Jaipur.

The film Godmother was the debut of Raima Sen, which was a critically acclaimed success. Despitre her minor role, she looked equally important and significant in comparison to the protagonist, played by
Shabana Azmi. She then starred in the film Daman playing the character of
Raveena Tandon`s daughter, here too her small performance was immensely appreciated.
The turning point in Raima Sen`s acting career came with the role in the
Rituparno Ghosh`s film Chokher Bali. She won much praise for her role as the simple, subservient Ashalata. After a few more average movies she went for a critically acclaimed hit in 2005 with the
Vidhu Vinod Chopra film Parineeta, where she played the playmate of the film`s heroine, essayed by the debutante actress
Vidya Balan. Since then she has had two more hits in the action thriller movie Dus and the Bengali film Antar Mahal (where did a very small role). Most recently, she appeared as the heroine of the film The Bong Connection (co-starring Shayan Munshi). Directed by Anjan Dutta, this film brought about the versatile feature of this actress. Even if Raima Sen does small roles, none of them can be actually called insignificant. Her very presence in any film makes the screen glamourous, because of her inherited looks from her grandmother,
Suchitra Sen, who is still considered as the unmatched beauty queen of West Bengal.
She has recently signed her first Tamil film and she is expected to do more south Indian films. Raima`s public profile and image is much lower-key and demure than that of her sister
Riya Sen who has been compared more to their mother. She is an easy to talk to and devoid of starry airs.
