
Sunny Deol, Indian movie actor was born as Ajay Singh Deol on October 19, 1956 in New Delhi. Sunny Deol was born to veteran actor
Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. He has two younger brothers,
Bobby Deol and Abhay Deol and two half-sisters,
Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, from his father`s re-marriage to famous actress
Hema Malini. He is married to Pooja and has two sons Rajvir and Ranvir. He was very much keen to acting from even his childhood and to fulfil his wish he went to England to study acting. He joined theatre called the Old Web Theatre in Birmingham, England where he studied theatre and acting.
Sunny made his acting debut in the blockbuster movie `Betaab` in 1983. This was a huge hit with debutant artist Amrita Singh. After some flop movies he starred in an action film Arjun in 1985. He played the role of a jobless youth who is forced to become a gangster by circumstances. This role established his image as the action hero of Bollywood. After that he again went to darkness in his career. Sunny`s breakthrough role came with Ghayal in the year 1990 directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. His role of a boxer who fights for his family received craze among the youths. He became the role model for the younger generation.
In another film of Rajkumar Santoshi the government of India awarded him a national award for his role of a lawyer in `Damini`. Some of the important landmark films in Hindi cinema in his career are as follows Tridev, Vishwatma , Imtihaan , Ghatak , Ziddi, Border and Indian. He has also had success in romantic and dramatic roles in films including Chaalbaaz, Darr, Jeet and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Recently he starred in the multi-starrer action comedy Fool and Final with Shaheed Kapoor and Ayesha Takia. In his film Apne he worked with Dharmendra and Bobby Deol together which is a big achievement for the deol fans. He also directed a film named `Dillagi` where he acted with his brother Bobby Deol. The film was not popular as a hit but became famous in outer India. Sunny Deol is very famous in patriotic movies. Some of his dialogues are famous among the viewers of the Bollywood films. He is famous for his side-glances, slow dialogue deliveries, his nasal tone, etc. he has his unique style while doing romantic as well as emotional scenes.
Sunny Deol has won a number of awards in his film-acting career. In 1991 he won the National film award. In 1993 he also won the National Film Award for supporting actor for Damini. He won filmfare awards for many a times and these includes Ghayal and Damini where in both the cases he won the filmfare award as best actor. He was also nominated for Betaab, Ghatak, and Gadar. But for Gadar: Ek Prem Katha he won the Zee Cine Award for outstanding performance. This film also bagged him Star Screen award as best actor and Sansui Viewer`s Choice movie award in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
