Simi Garewal is one of the most elegant Indian actresses and also a brilliant anchor.

 Simi Garewal, Indian ActressSimi Garewal was born on 17 October 1947 and is a celebrated Indian Hindi movie actress. Her father was a brigadier in the army and she grew up in England and developed a faultless English accent that was rare those days amongst Indian actresses. Simi Garewal was married to Ravi Mohan. However the marriage did not last long.

Film career of Simi Garewal
Simi did her debut in an English-language film Tarzan Goes to India in 1962 with Feroz Khan. Thereafter Garewal came back to India to become an actress and also learned Hindi to be impeccable in her field of profession. In the 1960s and 70s Simi Garewal started working with leading directors such as Raj Kapoor`s Mera Naam Joker, Raj Khosla`s Do Badan, Satyajit Ray`s Aranyer Din Ratri (Days & Nights in a Forest) and Mrinal Sen`s Padatik (The Pedestrian). She was also cast in Columbia Pictures` Siddhartha, based on the novel by Herman Hesse. In the mid 1970`s, she appeared as a guest artiste in the famous film Kabhi Kabhie (1976) directed by her brother in law Yash Chopra and in a starring role in the film Chalte Chalte (1976).

Simi Garewal created a strong impression in the minds of her audiences as a vamp in Karz (1980). She also starred in the BBC docu-drama Maharajas (1987), based on the book by Charles Allen. In the early eighties, Simi Garewal inclined towards writing and direction and also formed her own production company, Siga Arts International. Eventually, Simi Garewal hosted, produced and directed a TV series for Doordarshan called `Its a Womans` World` (1983). Simi Garewal made documentary for Channel Four UK and called it Living Legend Raj Kapoor (1984). Next, she came up with her 3-part documentary on Rajiv Gandhi titled the India`s Rajiv. Both the documentaries received international acclaim. She also wrote and directed a Hindi feature film Rukhsat and produced television commercials. She won the 1st Prize from the 1988 Paters Award in Australia. Simi Garewal was in regular news for her pretentious talk show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. She hosted the talk show that was telecasted in Indian television for almost 10 years.

Awards and Honours of Simi Garewal
Garewal won the RAPA (2001) Award for Best Anchor & Talk show and the (1999) Screen Awards for Best Talk Show & Best Anchor. Simi Garewal was showered with many more awards, including the Indian Filmgoers Association Award (2004) Best Talk Show, Indian Television Academy Award (2003) for Best Anchor, the Rotary Award (2003) for Vocational Excellence in Media & Television among many others. Simi Garewal usually wears her signature white clothes, while attending TV shows and award ceremonies, and is popularly known as "The Lady in White" in the industry. As an actress, Simi Garewal was honoured with Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Saathi in 1968 and Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Do Badan in 1966.
