Sikander Kher is an Indian actor and son of veteran actors -
Anupam Kher and
Kirron Kher. Sikander Kher began his filming career with the Woodstock Villa, released in 2008. His venture into Bollywood has been encouraged with hope and promise by the media. So far, his performances have received several positive reviews. Sikander Kher is known to be a multi-faceted person as he assisted
Sanjay Leela Bhansali in directing the Bollywood film,
Devdas (2002). During this daring venture, he was still in high school. Before his debut film, Sikander Kher was the first to have been offered the character played by
Saif Ali Khan in
Dil Chahta Hai (2001).

Sikander Kher is actually the son of
Kirron Kher and Gautam Berry. After few years of his birth, Kirron left Gautam for
Anupam Kher in 1985, taking Sikander along with her. Kirron once expressed in an interview that Sikander virtually had no problems adjusting with Anupam because they had been more like friends. Sikander Kher was brought up in a family deeply involved with films and thus his upbringing was highly influenced by acting. As a child, Sikander Kher was passionate to enact fictitious scenes created by his father. Although, he was an average student in school, his interest for films was visible since then.
After schooling, Sikander Kher`s first steps into the film industry were while assisting
Yash Chopra in filming
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). He got this opportunity because his family was good friends with the Chopra family. While Kirron was acting in
Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s
Devdas (2002), Bhansali was ready to allow Sikander try his hand in film making under his guidance. Later, Sikander Kher attended his father`s acting workshop along with
Uday Chopra and other celebrity children such as
Abhishek Bachchan and
Hrithik Roshan. After this, he again joined the short-term 6-month National School of Drama course because he did not hold a Bachelor`s degree.
