Shobhna Samarth, Bollywood Actress
Shobhna Samarth was a well-known actress in the Bollywood film industry and the mother of actresses Nutan and Tanuja.
 Shobhna Samarth, Bollywood ActressShobhna Samarth was born in 1915. She was an actress who started her film career in the early days of sound in the Indian film industry. Although her career started with Marathi cinema, she also did a number of Hindi films. Her first Hindi film, Nigahen Nafrat was released in 1935. Shobhna Samarth is best remembered for her character played as Sita in Ram Rajya (1943).

Shobhna was born as Saroj Shilotri to banker P.S. Shilotri and film actress Rattan Bai. She later married director and cinematographer Kumarsen Samarth. They gave birth to four children; two among them are Tanuja and Nutan. Eventually the couple parted mutually and Shobhna came in close association to actor Motilal (Moti Lal).

Two of her daughters Nutan Behl and Tanuja Samarth became leading actresses in future. Shobhana produced their debut films. Another daughter of Shobhna, Chatura is an artist. Tanuja`s daughter Kajol is also an actress and is married to actor Ajay Devgan; and Nutan`s son Mohnish Behl is also a character actor, and. Other well-known family members of Shobhna Samarth include granddaughter Tanisha, sons-in-law Rajnish Behl and Shomu Mu kherjee. Shobhna was also the first cousin to actress Nalini Jaywant.

She won a Filmfare Special Award in 1996. While her death from cancer in 2000, Shobhana Samarth proudly had seven granddaughters, one grandson, three great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
