The teams like Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh represented North Zone in the knock out level of Ranji Trophy, 2001-02

The North Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 saw the participation of all the 6 teams that were playing in the tournament for the previous several editions. Most of the teams were representing different states from the Northern region of India in the premium domestic cricket tournament of India and there were a Services team in the zone also. The participating teams in the North Zone included the likes of Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Services and Himachal Pradesh and they gave their best efforts to claim the top spot in the zone. Securing a berth in the knock out level of the tournament was also another principal objective of the teams. However, only the teams like Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh eventually became the toppers in the zone. The Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh teams earned the highest 34, 27 and 24 points, respectively from the zonal level league matches and entered into the knock out level from the North Zone.

The match between the teams of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh was the first of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 and the match was held at Mohali from 01-04 November, 2001. The Punjab team got a good start in the tournament, as it won the match with a huge margin of 10 wickets and earned 8 points from it. However, the Himachal Pradesh team could not earn any points from the match. The teams of Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir met with each other in the second match of the zone and the match took place at Rohtak from 01-04 November, 2001. The Haryana team clinched a victory of an innings and 118 runs in the match to earn 8 points and the Jammu & Kashmir team remained pointless in the match. The third match of the North Zone involved the teams like Delhi and Services and this match was also held during the same timing from 01-04 November, 2001, at Delhi. The winner of the match was the Delhi team with a margin of an innings and 23 runs for earning 8 points and the Services team failed to earn any points from the match.

The Punjab and Services team were involved in the fourth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 and the two teams played the match at Amritsar from 07-10 November, 2001. The Punjab team clinched a victory of 118 runs in the match for earning 8 points and the Services team remained pointless in the match. The Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir teams then played against each other in the next match of the zone, which was held at Mandi from 07-10 November, 2001. The Himachal Pradesh team became the winner of the match with a margin of 46 runs and earned 8 points from the match. However, the Jammu & Kashmir team could not earn even a single point from the match. The match between the teams of Delhi and Haryana was also held during the same timing from 07-10 November, 2001 and the match took place at Delhi. The Delhi team earned 8 points from the match by clinching a victory of 6 wickets, while the Haryana team remained pointless in the match.

The seventh of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 was played between the teams of Haryana and Services and the match took place at Faridabad from 18-21 November, 2001. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Haryana and Services teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The next match of the zone involved the teams like Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab and the match was held at Jammu from 18-21 November, 2001. The Jammu & Kashmir team earned 5 points and Punjab earned 3 points from the drawn match. Then, the Delhi team played against the Himachal Pradesh team in the next match of the zone, which took place at Bilaspur from 18-21 November, 2001. The Delhi and Himachal Pradesh teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the match, as it remained drawn during the specified period of time.

The teams of Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir appeared in the tenth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 and the two teams played the match at Delhi from 24-27 November, 2001. The Delhi team played with total dominance in the match and clinched a victory of 200 runs for earning 8 points from it. The Jammu & Kashmir team could not earn even a single point from the match. The Himachal Pradesh and Services teams were involved in the next match of the North Zone and the match was held at Una from 24-27 November, 2001. The Himachal Pradesh won the match with a huge margin of 9 wickets to earn 8 points and the Services team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the zone saw the Haryana and Punjab teams playing against each other at Gurgaon from 24-27 November, 2001. The match officials awarded the Punjab and Haryana teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the drawn match.

The next match of the North Zone involved the teams like Services and Jammu & Kashmir and the match was held at Delhi from 30 November-03 December, 2001. The drawn match saw the Jammu & Kashmir team earning 5 points and Services earning 3 points from it. The Haryana team played against the Himachal Pradesh team in the next match of the North Zone and the match took place at Rohtak from 30 November-03 December, 2001. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Himachal Pradesh and Haryana teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The last of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2001-02 involved the teams like Punjab and Delhi and the two teams played the match at Amritsar from 30 November-03 December, 2001. There was no winner in the match and as a result, the Delhi and Punjab teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the drawn match.
