Indian movie director Rajkumar Santoshi is an excellent director who has bagged many awards in Indian Film Industry. Earlier he was assistant director to Govind Nihalani, he learns a lot from this director in his lifetime. Rajkumar Santoshi is a critically acclaimed director and producer of Hindi films. He started his directorial career with Ghayal and with Sunny Deol. His fascinating movies are often characterized by their inherent realism and fine direction. In many times his actors got National awards like Sunny Deol in `Ghayal`, Anil Kapoor in `Pukar` and Ajay Devgan in `Legend of Bhagat Singh`. Unlike his contemporaries, Santoshi often depends on original screenplays instead of merely adapting Hollywood movies. He somewhat avoid `naach gaana` type of mix in his film. Surprisingly, while Santoshi has gained the recognition of his peers, he is rarely nominated for awards. His best known movies are Pukar, Khakee, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, China Gate, Lajja, damini and many more. He has tried comedy only once in lifetime and that was a huge hit named `Andaz Apna Apna`. He believes in versatility. The director`s hard-hitting Damini created a wave among the society. His eternal love story of poor boy and rich girl in Barsaat was really enchanting.

Ghatak, China Gate and Pukar saw the action man in Santoshi come to the fore. Next, he made Lajja, a social drama about women for women. And then, Santoshi`s patriotic sensibilities were expressed through The Legend of Bhagat Singh. He did long research for this film and this practice brings result when the protagonist Ajay Devgan got national Film award for that film.
