Prabhu Deva Sundaram, better known simply as Prabhu Deva is a choreographer, actor and film director in India. He was born on 3 April 1973 in Chennai. Prabhu Deva spends his childhood in Chennai and He is popularly called "India`s Michael Jackson" for his fast dance movements. He is the son of the dance master Sundaram, and thus he has inherited dance in his blood. His brother is Raju Sundaram. After years of brilliant choreography he went on to establish himself as an actor.
Prabhu Deva became a star in Kollywood with his extraordinary dance steps. His first movie was Vetri Vizha as a dance director. Since then, he choreographed over 100 movies. Before starting his career as a full time actor, he did some song sequences in several films. His first movie was in Kadhalan with actress Nagma; here he was the protagonist. Prabhu Deva`s success can be accredited more to his dancing than anything else. Prabhu Deva enjoys a vast fan following in the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industry. Prabhu Deva also acted alongside his brothers in the movie 123. He married Ramlatha, a former dancer in his troupe. They have four sons together.
Prabhu Deva was first noticed by the nation, when he made a brief appearance in a song called Chikku Bukku Railei in the film Gentleman. This S. Shankar`s first film was a blockbuster hit in 1993. He also danced with Madhuri Dixit for the song Que Sera Sera in the movie Pukar. He acted in the hit movie Style along with Lawrence Raghavendra. Prabhu Deva has danced with Apache Indian in the song No Problem in the film Love Birds. His special appearance in Pokkiri with Joseph Vijay in the song Aadungada was also acclaimed by his audiences.
Prabhu Deva is a two-time winner of the National Award for Best Choreographer for the film Lakshya in Hindi and Minsara Kanavu in Tamil. Prabhu Deva also won a Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award and an award for the film Pokkiri for Best Director.
