Mahesh Bhatt. She and her father own a film production company called, Vishesh Films. Pooja Bhatt is a popular Indian film actress, producer and director.
Pooja Bhatt is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt and stepdaughter of Soni Razdan, an actress. Vikram Bhatt is a film screenwriter-director and her cousin. Emraan Hashmi is another cousin of Pooja, who is a popular Bollywood actor. Pooja acted in many films, which were produced and directed by her father.
She married her long-time boyfriend and an admired Channel V VJ, Munish Makhija aka Udham Singh, on August 24, 2003. He is the owner of a restaurant-bar in Goa. She started to act at an age of 17, in 1989 with Daddy, a TV film directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. In the film she was depicted as a soul-searching teenage girl in a troubled relationship with her alcoholic father, played by actor Anupam Kher. However, the turning point in her life was with the musical hit, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991) opposite Aamir Khan. This film was a remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood classic "It Happened One Night." After this film, she received the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for the film.
Some of Pooja Bhatt`s well-known films in the 1990s included, Sadak (1991), Junoon (1992), Tamanna (1996), Chaahat (1996), a super-hit and multi-starrer Border (1997) and Zakhm (1998). Her last film appearance was in Everybody Says I`m Fine! in 2001. Since then, she showed her interests in producing and directing. She made her directorial debut in 2004 with Paap, starring John Abraham and Udita Goswami, since then she has made two more directorial ventures, namely Holiday (2006) and Dhokha (2007).
Pooja Bhatt won Filmfare Award for Lux Face of the Year in 1991 and Popular Award for Best debuting Director for Paap in 2005.
