The internationally acclaimed Indian actor Aamir Khan owns Aamir Khan Productions Pvt. Ltd. This production has produced some of the best contemporary films that have indiscriminately earned rave reviews from all sections of the society. Aamir Khan Productions is a motion picture production and distribution company, based in Mumbai. Actor Aamir Khan established the company in1999. The company has produced many outstanding films so far and all of these films succeeded commercially and critically.

Aamir Khan Productions Pvt. Ltd`s first film was Lagaan, which was released in 2001, starring Aamir Khan as the lead actor. The film has been both a major critical and commercial success, and was selected as the film that shall take India officially to the 74th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Lagaan was eventually chosen and nominated in Best Foreign Language Film category along with four other foreign films but could not stand upto No Man`s Land. The film won many major awards at several award functions such as Filmfare and IIFA.

Taarein Zameen Par is another film of this production house, released in 2007 and directed by Aamir Khan. This versatile actor is also seen in this film in the lead role, sharing the screen with the debut of child actor Darsheel Safary. The film was initially visualized and developed by Amole Gupte and Deepa Bhatia. The film narrates the tender years of a young child who suffers in school until a teacher identifies him as dyslexic. The movie was a huge success not only in India, but in foreign countries too. Taare Zameen Par won the 2008 Filmfare Best Movie Award, also many other Filmfare, and Star Screen Awards. The Government of Delhi declared the film as tax-free.

The next film produced by Aamir Khan Productions Pvt. Ltd. is Abbas Tyrewala`s Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, released in July 2008. This unique, entertaining film marked the debut of Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan`s nephew Imran Khan Pal along with Genelia D`Souza. The movie has received both commercial and critical acclamation. Aamir Khan has also produced two other movies, Peepli Live and Kiran Rao directed Dhobi Ghat. Both the movies did well at the box office.
