Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000, South Zone League Matches
The teams of Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Karnataka claimed the top spots in the South Zone of Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000.

6 teams participated under the South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 and the regular participants of the tournament were mainly coming from the Southern region of India. The tournament is well known in all over the world, as the premium domestic cricket tournament in India. The teams that participated in the tournament under the South Zone included the likes of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra, Hyderabad, Goa and Tamil Nadu. The teams competed with each other in the zonal level league matches with a view to become one of the top three teams in the zone so that they could get an entry into the Super League stage of the tournament. However, only the teams like Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Karnataka eventually became successful to do so from the South Zone, as they earned total of 31, 29 and 27 points, respectively from the zonal level league matches.

The first of the South Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 was played between the teams of Andhra and Tamil Nadu and the two teams played the match at Vishakhapatnam from 07-10 November, 1999. The Tamil Nadu and Andhra teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the drawn match. The teams of Karnataka and Kerala played against each other in the second match of the zone and the match was held at Bangalore from 07-10 November, 1999. The winner of the match was the Karnataka team with a margin of an innings and 137 runs to earn 8 points and the Kerala team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the zone between the teams of Goa and Hyderabad was also held during the same timing from 07-10 November, 1999 and the match took place at Panaji. Playing very well in the match, the Hyderabad team clinched a wonderful victory of an innings and 352 runs for earning 8 points. However, the Goa team could not earn even a single point from the match.

The Tamil Nadu and Kerala teams were involved in the fourth of the South Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 and the match was organised at Chennai from 15-18 November, 1999. The Tamil Nadu and Kerala teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the match, as it remained drawn during the specified period of time. The next match of the South Zone saw the teams of Hyderabad and Andhra playing against each other at Secunderabad from 15-18 November, 1999. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Hyderabad and Andhra teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The teams of Karnataka and Goa appeared in the next match of the zone and the two teams played the match at Bangalore from 15-18 November, 1999. The Karnataka team clinched a convincing victory of an innings and 179 runs in the match for earning 8 points and the Goa team remained pointless in the match.

The Goa team appeared in the seventh of the South Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 also and this time, it played against the Andhra team at Vishakhapatnam from 24-27 November, 1999. The Andhra team played well in the closely contested match to clinch a victory of 4 wickets for earning 8 points and the Goa team once again remained pointless in this match. The next match of the zone involved the teams like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and the match took place at Bangalore from 24-27 November, 1999. The winner of the match was the Tamil Nadu team with a good margin of 116 runs and the team also earned 8 points from the match. However, the Karnataka team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the zone between the teams of Kerala and Hyderabad was also held during the same timing from 24-27 November, 1999 and the match was held at Kozhikode. The match saw the Hyderabad team earning 8 points by clinching a huge victory of 9 wickets and it also saw the Kerala team remained pointless.

The teams of Andhra and Karnataka played against each other in the tenth of the South Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 and the match was held at Kakinada from 25-28 December, 1999. The Karnataka team earned 8 points from the match by clinching a victory of 46 runs and the Andhra team remained pointless in the match. The next match of the zone saw the teams of Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad playing against each other at Chennai from 27-30 December, 1999. The drawn match saw the Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad teams earning 5 and 3 points, respectively from it. The match between the teams of Goa and Kerala was the next match of the South Zone and the match took place at Margao from 28-31 December, 1999. The Kerala team won the match by a huge margin of 10 wickets for earning 8 points and the Goa team remained pointless in the match.

The Hyderabad and Karnataka teams met with each other in the next match of the South Zone and the two teams played the match at Secunderabad from 06-09 January, 2000. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the Hyderabad and Karnataka teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from it. Then, the teams of Kerala and Andhra played against each other in the next match of the zone, which was held at Kozhikode from 06-09 January, 2000. The closely contested match saw the Kerala team winning by a narrow margin of only 3 wickets for earning 8 points and it also saw the Andhra team remaining pointless. The last of the South Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 involved the teams like Tamil Nadu and Goa and the match took place at Chennai from 06-09 January, 2000. The match saw the Tamil Nadu team winning by a margin of an innings and 197 runs to earn 8 points and it also saw the Goa team remaining pointless in it.
