The Rajasthan, Railways and Uttar Pradesh teams earned the highest points from the Central Zone league matches.

The Central Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 comprised of 5 teams, all the regular participants of the tournament, coming from the Central region of India. The Ranji Trophy has earned a lot of fame and recognition for being one of the most popular and fruitful domestic cricket tournaments in India. The participating teams under the Central Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 included the likes of Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Railways and Madhya Pradesh. All the teams tried their best to claim one of the top three spots in the zone so that they could enter into the Super League stage of the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000. However, only the teams like Rajasthan, Railways and Uttar Pradesh eventually became successful to do so from the zone, as they earned the highest points from the zonal level league matches. The Rajasthan, Railways and Uttar Pradesh earned total of 23, 19 and 19 points, respectively at the end of the zonal level league matches.

The teams of Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh played against each other in the first of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 and the two teams played the match at Nagpur from 23-26 October, 1999. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The second match of the zone also involved the Vidarbha team and this time it played against the Railways team at Nagpur from 31 October-03 November, 1999. The Railways team won the match by a good margin of 7 wickets for earning 8 points and the Vidarbha team remained pointless in the match. The Madhya Pradesh team played against the Uttar Pradesh team in the third match of the zone and the match was held at Durg from 31 October-03 November, 1999. The Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the match, as it remained drawn during the stipulated duration.

The match between the teams of Rajasthan and Vidarbha was the fourth of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 and the match took place at Jaipur from 11-14 November, 1999. The Rajasthan team played very well in the match for clinching a victory of an innings and 74 runs to earn 8 points and the Vidarbha team remained pointless in the match. The Madhya Pradesh and Railways teams then played against each other in the next match of the zone, which was held at Indore from 11-14 November, 1999. The Madhya Pradesh and Railways teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the drawn match. The Madhya Pradesh team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Rajasthan team at Jaipur from 19-22 November, 1999. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match.

The seventh of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 involved the teams like Railways and Uttar Pradesh and the two teams played the match at Delhi from 19-22 November, 1999. The Railways team earned 5 points and Uttar Pradesh earned 3 points from the drawn match. The Uttar Pradesh team then played against the Rajasthan team in the next match of the zone and the two teams played the match at Meerut from 26-29 November, 1999. The match was also a drawn one and the Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from the drawn match. In the next match of the Central Zone, the teams of Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh played against each other and the match was held at Kanpur from 28-31 December, 1999. The Uttar Pradesh team played very well in the match for earning 8 points by clinching a huge victory of 10 wickets and the Vidarbha team failed to earn any points from the match. The last of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1999-2000 saw the teams of Railways and Rajasthan playing against each other at Delhi from 28-31 December, 1999. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Rajasthan and Railways teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match.
