Randhir Kapoor, the eldest son of Raj Kapoor`s gained much popularity with his commendable performances in Bollywood movies.

Randhir Kapoor, Indian Movie ActorRandhir Kapoor is popular with his nickname as Dabboo. Raj Kapoor`s eldest son, Randhir Kapoor was born on 15 February 1947 in India. He is an unforgettable name in the Bollywood industry as an actor, producer and director. He is a fourth generation Kapoor and comes from a distinguished family. He and his family have been part of the industry for many years. His great-grandfather was Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor and his grandfather was Prithviraj Kapoor; Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor were his paternal uncles. Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are the siblings of Randhir Kapoor. His wife is actress Babita Kapoor and his daughters are contemporary actresses Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Unfortunately, their marriage did not work out and they lived separated throughout their life.

Film Career of Randhir Kapoor
Randhir Kapoor made his acting and directorial debut with Kal Aaj Aur Kal in the year 1971. This film also starred his wife, father and grandfather. The R.K banner produced the film and was an average success. After his debut, he came up with two successful movies, the first with Jaya Bachchan in the film Jawani Diwani that was released in 1972. The song `Jaane Jaan` from this film is an eternally famous melody. This movie was one of the biggest hits of that year and was highly praised because of the music and performances. Raampur Ka Lakshman was the other success, released in the same year, 1972. In this film he co acted with Kasme Vaade (1978) movieShatrughan Sinha and Rekha, the film was directed by Manmohan Desai, with music by the legendary R.D. Burman. In 1975 he directed and also acted alongside his father once again in Dharam Karam, which was not a hit at the box office.

He went on in his career to appear in other multi-starrer hit films, including Chacha Bhatija (1977), Kasme Vaade (1978) and Pukar (1983). He won a Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actor for the film Kasme Vaade. Although, Randhir Kapoor hardly acted in films as the leading man, his audience loved him for his handsome looks. Most of his hits were with other major stars, and in which Randhir Kapoor was the secondary lead. After the film Khazana in 1984, he quit acting and went for producing and directing. In 1991 he directed the film Henna, which was at first directed by his father. Unfortunately, he died during the production of the film and Randhir completed the film as a tribute to him. He won a Filmfare nomination as Best Director. In 1996, he produced the film Prem Granth, which was the directorial debut of his younger brother Rajiv. In 1999, he produced the film Aa Ab Laut Chalen, which happened to be the directorial debut of Rishi Kapoor. In 1999 he again returned back in acting with the film Mother. He took another break, appeared in the film Armaan in 2003 and thereafter retired from acting.
