The Kodaganagar Reservoir is constructed on the Kodagananar River in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu.

Kodaganar Reservoir, Tamil NaduThe Kodaganagar Reservoir, standing on the Kodagananar River, serves the entire river basin expanding to almost 2000 sq km. The water of the reservoir is mainly used in the Dindigul district and a small part in Karur district of Tamil Nadu. The area around the reservoir is hard rock terrain and there is indiscriminate exploitation of groundwater through wells used for irrigation. The number of energized wells in Dindigul district, set beside in the Kodaganar reservoir alone has been raised from 60 thousand to about 72 thousand in 1998. The Sirumalai Hills form the drainage boundary, during the course of flow of the Kodagananar River. There is also a large surface water servoir at Attur at the foothill of the Sirumalai hill range.
