Kaukundakas are the aboriginal mountain tribes inhabiting in the districts of Konkan.

In the Vishnu Purana it is mentioned that Kaukundakas are the aboriginal mountain tribes who live in the districts of Konkan and its neighborhood. Other tribes which resided here are the Kaukattakas and Kaunkanas.
