 Rashtriya Kala Kendra is a theatre group of Surat in south Gujarat. This is a professional theatre group established in 1948. Haifa century of active, well-directed work is its hallmark, influenced by Bombay`s commercial Gujarati theatre because of its cultural proximity. Dramatist-directors like Vajubhai Tank, Jyoti Vaidya, Anant Acharya, Kapildev Shukla, and Ravindra Parekh were involved with this group. Some important authors can be mentioned as Bhagvatikumar Sharma and Saroj Pathak, actors like Punkaj Pathak, Dipak Gandhi, Anang Mehta, and Urmila Shroff were involved with the Kendra. It has produced more than thirty-five full-length plays by renowned writers and organized over a dozen theatre festivals.
