From the North Zone League Matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 Delhi and Haryana teams earned the highest points.

Six teams played against each other under the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91, one of the leading domestic cricket tournaments in India. Most of the teams were representing various states from the Northern region of India and they were also the regular participants in the tournament. The teams included the likes of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Services, Punjab and Haryana and all of them gave their best efforts to become the topper in the zone. The teams also tried very hard for getting promotion to the knock out level of the tournament, however, only the teams like Delhi and Haryana could eventually do so from the zone. The Delhi and Haryana teams earned total of 92 and 87 points, respectively from the zonal level league matches and proceeded toward the knock out level of the tournament from the North Zone.

The teams of Delhi and Services played against each other in the first of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 and the two teams played the match at Una from 01-04 November, 1990. The Delhi team got a very good start in the tournament by winning this match with a wonderful margin of an innings and 152 runs and earned 23 points from it. The Services team also earned 1 point from the match. The second match of the zone was played between the teams of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir and the match was held at Una from 19-22 November, 1990. The Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir teams earned 13 and 9 points, respectively from the drawn match. The next match of the zone involved the teams of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana and the match was held at Dharmasala from 25-28 November, 1990. The Haryana team played wonderfully in the match and earned 25 points, by clinching a victory of an innings and 115 runs and the Himachal Pradesh team also earned 5 points from the match.

The Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab teams were played against each other in the fourth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 and the two teams played the match Udhampur from 25-28 November, 1990. The winner of the match was the Punjab team with a very good margin of an innings and 47 runs. The Punjab team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Himachal Pradesh team at Una from 01-04 December, 1990. The winner of the match was the Punjab team with a very good margin of an innings and 128 runs for earning 22 points and the Himachal Pradesh team earned 3 points from the match, as well. The match between the teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana was the next match of the zone and the match was held at Jammu from 01-04 December, 1990. The drawn match saw the Haryana team earning 16 points and Jammu & Kashmir earning 1 point from it.

The Jammu & Kashmir team played against the Services team in the seventh of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 and the match was held at Udhampur from 07-10 December, 1990. The match was won by the Services team with a margin of 71 runs for earning 18 points and the Jammu & Kashmir team also earned 9 points from the match. The Punjab and Haryana teams then played against each other in the next match of the zone and the match took place at Ludhiana from 07-10 December, 1990. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Haryana and Punjab teams 9 and 7 points, respectively for the match. The next match of the zone was also held from 07-10 December, 1990 and it was played at Delhi between the teams from Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. The Delhi team earned 25 points from the match, by clinching a victory of an innings and 214 runs and the Himachal Pradesh team earned 4 points from the match as well.

The match between the teams of Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir was the tenth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 and the two teams played the match at Udhampur from 27-30 December, 1990. The Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir teams earned 13 and 8 points, respectively from the match, as it remained drawn during the specified period of time. The next match of the zone was played between the teams of Services and Himachal Pradesh and the teams played the match at Delhi from 31 December, 1990 - 03 January, 1991. The Himachal Pradesh team won the closely contested match with a narrow margin of only 1 wicket and earned 16 points from it. The Services team also earned 9 points from the match. The Delhi and Punjab teams then played against each other in the next match of the zone, which took place at Delhi from 01-04 January, 1991. The Delhi team earned 20 points from the match, by winning it with a margin of 9 wickets and the Punjab team earned 8 points from the match, as well.

The Delhi team appeared in the next match of the North Zone also and this time, it played against the Haryana team at Gurgaon from 07-10 January, 1991. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time. The teams of Services and Punjab were involved in the next match of the zone and the two teams played the match at Delhi from 07-10 January, 1991. The Punjab team played very well in the match for earning 22 points, by clinching a victory of an innings and 59 runs. The Services team also earned 3 points from the match. The last of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1990-91 was played between the teams of Services and Haryana and the match was held at Delhi from 12-15 January, 1991. The match saw the Haryana team winning by a margin of an innings and 172 runs and earning 23 points and the Services team also earned 5 points from the match.
