Karsne is an enormous horn, quite straight, about five feet long and very heavy.

 Karsne is a huge trumpet, quite straight, about five feet long and very heavy. Karsne was so heavy that a man can barely raise it at intervals, to bellow forth a thundering blast, when he is forced to drop it again. It was used in the principal temples in Mysore, and brought into use to meet distinguished visitors.
