Kama Deva, Hindu God Of Love
Kama Deva is the Cupid or the Hindu God of Love.

Kama Deva is the Hindu Cupid or god of Love, considered to be one of the most pleasing creations of Hindu fiction. He is the son of Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna by goddess Lakshmi. Devi Lakshmi was then called Maya or Rukmini.

In another instance Kama Deva, is believed that he was the Brahma. He came out in the form of a beautiful female and looked at Brahma with passionate emotions. Kama Deva is usually represented as a handsome youth, sometime conversing with his mother and consort in the midst of his gardens and temples. At times he is seen riding by moonlight on a parrot or lorry, and attended by nymphs. The one of the nymph bears his banner, which consists of a fish on red ground.

Kama Deva influenced lord Shiva by discharging an arrow at him. Lord Shiva fervently loved his wife Devi Parvati. When Kamadeva discharge his arrow at Shiva then the lord got infuriated and promised to reduce him to ashes. Afterwards the relenting god declared that he should be born again in the form of Pradyumna, son of Lord Krishna by Maya or Rukmini.

The bow of Kamadeva is made of flowers, with a string formed of bees. The five arrows are each tipped with the blossom of a flower, which is devoted to and supposed to preside over a sense. Kamadeva is lord of the Apsarasas. He is called the god of desire or the mind agitator or the inflamer or the destroyer of devotional tranquility.

In a hymn in the Atharva Veda, Kama Deva is described as the god of sexual love.
