B. R. Chopra`s younger brother, Yash Chopra made the film
Dharamputra (1961), an allegorical film on Hindu-Muslim relations at the time of partition through the emotional story. Hailing from Lahore (Punjab), he is one person who completely changed the face of Bollywood. Till date there are very few directors in Indian cinema who had epitomized romance in a way he did. It is he who established the trend of shooting films outside the country. As far as his early career is concerned he started out as an assistant to his brother and went on to direct 5 films under the banner of BR Films:
Dhool ka Phool (1959),
Waqt (1965),
Ittefaq (1969),
Aadmi aur Insaan (1969) and Dharmaputra.
Other famous films directed by Yash Chopra include

Trishul (1978),
Joshila (1973) and
Parampara (1993). Later he founded his own banner iunder the name of Yash Raj Films. Several directors have made films under his production. Today this production house is also looked after by
Aditya Chopra, his son.
As a director his specialized field is romance. The hall marks of all his films are larger than life sets, stunning foreign locations and his women leads are extremely gorgeous. His films are visually appealing and flawless. Never before had a director presented the themes of love and beauty so aesthetically. Actors, like, Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee, Rekha, Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee owe their career best films to Yash Chopra. Even at the age of 75 years Yash Chopra has the ability of delivering one of the finest films of the silver screen. His last directorial venture had been
Veer Zaara (2004) with Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee.
