K Balachander is an award winning Tamil director. He has also played the role of scriptwriter and producer. He differs from the other Indian directors in his way of filmmaking. K Balachander deals with films that explore social themes and complex relationships. K Balachander is quite adept at dealing with such themes. He is one of the giants as far as Tamil directors are concerned. Apart from his landmark films he ahs also gifted the film industry with some of the finest Tamil actors till date: Rajanikant, Prakashraj and Vivek.
K Balachander is known to be one of the tough directors to work with who demand nothing but the best and extract the best from his actors. One of his all time memorable films would be Apoorva Raagangal (1975). It deals with a complex father-son relationship. On the other hand Avargal (1977) revolves around a divorcee as she falls in love once more. The list of his notable films is endless. Apart from the Tamil film industry he has also made films in Hindi and Telugu films. this prolific director bagged National awards for films like Iru Kodugal; Apoorva Raagangal; Thanneer Thanneer and Achamillai Achamillai.
