Indrayani River, Indian River
The Indrayani River originates in Lonavala and flows very close to Mumbai.

Alandi situated on the bank of Indrayani River, Indian RiverIndrayani River is a rain-fed river, which originates in Lonavala, one of the hill stations located along the Mumbai-Pune Highway. The river has great religious importance and the two sacred towns Alandi and Dehu are situated on its banks. Dehu is known to be a sacred place for being the hometown of the poet Saint Tukaram, who was a popular saint of Maharashtra and Alandi holds, the samadhi of the poet Dnyaneshwar.

Indrayani is best known for its rich marine life. On the Ghats of Indrayani River, in front of the Saint Dnyaneshwar Ghat at Alandi, a coliseum has been build to meet the various requirements. Valvan Dam at Kamshet, situated on the Indrayani River, is a hydroelectric generating station.
