Laxminarayan Mishra is considered the founder of the problem play in Hindi theatre. He was an ardent advocate of patriotism and about feeling Indian at heart. However, Mishra remained open to new concepts and realities of life, and combined Indian and Western values in his plays. His approach was basically Indian but the dramatic structure was Western.
