Chunilal Madia was a Gujarati author. He was born in 1922. Although he primarily contributed fiction, still his plays were both one-act and full-length. Those have a high literary quality and stage ability. Hailing from the small town of Dhoraji in Saurashtra, he portrayed rural life and down-to-earth rustic wisdom with piercing satire. Hun ne man vahu i.e. `Me and My Wife` in 1949 is a hilarious comedy depicting urban characters in and out of wedlock. Ramb Robinhood in 1962 was a political farce, exposing the hypocrisy of society`s leaders. His one-act drama is often produced in Gujarati theatre and appreciated for his dialogue and challenging characterization. The magazine Ruchi, under his editorship, was a literary phenomenon in the 1960s.
