Ranji Trophy, 1967-68, East Zone League Matches
Bengal and Bihar continued to dominate in the zonal level.

The East Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1967-68 saw the same regular four teams participating with each other for a place in the knock out level of the tournament. The teams included the likes of Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Orissa and though all of them tried hard to become the toppers of the zone, the teams like Bengal and Bihar once again got into the knock out level of the tournament from the East Zone.

The East Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1967-68 started with the match between the teams of Bihar and Assam at Jamshedpur from 17-19 December, 1967. The match saw the Bihar team winning by a margin of an innings and 1 run. The teams of Orissa and Bengal clashed with each other in the second match of the East Zone and they played the match at Cuttack from 17-18 December, 1967. The Bengal team played very well in the match and clinched a victory of an innings and 76 runs in it for getting a very good start in the tournament.

In the third of the East Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1967-68, there was a clash between the teams of Orissa and Bihar and the match was played at Cuttack from 23-25 December, 1967. The winner of the match was the Bihar team with a margin of an innings and 77 runs. The next match saw the teams of Bengal and Assam clashing with each other at Calcutta from 23-25 December, 1967, where the Bengal team won comprehensively by a margin of 6 wickets.

The teams of Orissa and Assam played the fifth match of the East Zone at Berhampur from 29-31 December, 1967 and the match could not yield any fruit for any of the teams, as the match officials declared the match as a drawn one. The last of the East Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1967-68 involved the most powerful teams of the East Zone, Bengal and Bihar and the two teams played the match at Jamshedpur from 30 December 1967 - 01 January, 1968. This was anther drawn match in the East Zone and as a result, none of the teams could get any benefit from this match. However, the Bengal and Bihar teams became successful to enter into the knock out level of the tournament from the East Zone.
