Though Rajasthan made some troubles in the Final, the Bombay team won the title once again.

The teams like Bengal, Railways, Bombay, Mysore and Rajasthan were the ones that became successful to get an entry into the knock out level of the tournament. All the teams were the toppers in their respective zones and they tasted each other`s strength in the Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and Final matches of the tournament. However, it was the Bombay team once again that successfully defended its title in the Final and became the champion of the tournament, once again.

The Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 was played between the teams of Bengal and Railways and the match was held at Calcutta from 24-27 February, 1967. Though the match was drawn during its stipulated duration, the match officials allowed the Bengal team to advance to the Semi-Final of the tournament. The first Semi-Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 saw a clash between the teams of Bombay and Mysore at Bombay from 24-27 February, 1967, where the Bombay team won by an innings and 5 runs to get into the Final of the tournament.

The teams of Bengal and Rajasthan locked their horns together in the second Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 and the match was held at Calcutta from 09-11 March, 1967. The match saw the Rajasthan team dominating the Bengal team all through it and the teams eventually won the match by a margin of 154 runs for setting up a clash against the Bombay team in the Final. Thus, the Final line-up of the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 was Bombay Vs Rajasthan and the match took place at Bombay from 23-27 March, 1967. The Rajasthan team tried their best in the match to prevent the Bombay team from winning the trophy. However, though the match was drawn during the stipulated duration, the match officials declared the Bombay team as the winner of the match and also the tournament.
