Ranji Trophy, 1965-66, Knock Out Matches
Bombay once again topped all the other teams in the tournament and won it for yet another time.

The knock out matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1965-65 saw a tough battle between the top teams of the five zones, all vying for the championship trophy. There were a number of five teams that played in the knock out level of the tournament and the teams included the likes of Rajasthan, Services, Bombay, Bengal and Mysore. However, there was no change in the ultimate result of the tournament, as the Bombay team continued to dominate all the other teams in the tournament and won the trophy, yet again.

The teams of Rajasthan and Services clashed with each other in the Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1965-65 and the match was played at Jaipur from 28-30 January, 1966. The Rajasthan team played very well in the match and defeated the Services team with a good margin of 7 wickets to enter into the Semi-Final stage of the tournament. The first Semi-Final match was played between the teams of Bombay and Bengal at Bombay from 29 January-01 February, 1966. The Bombay team played wonderfully in the match and reached the Final of the tournament by defeating the Bengal team with a margin of 9 wickets.

There was a huge clash between the teams of Mysore and Rajasthan in the second Semi-Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1965-65 and the match took place at Bangalore from 05-08 February, 1966. The match saw a very tough and close contest between the two teams and the Rajasthan players did well to keep their heads cool during the crucial moments to clinch a narrow victory of 1 wicket in the match. Rajasthan also set up a Final clash with the Bombay team. The Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1965-65 saw the teams of Bombay and Rajasthan locking their horns together at Jaipur from 17-20 February, 1966. The Bombay team dominated over the Rajasthan team throughout the Final match and beat it opponents by 8 wickets for winning the Ranji Trophy title for the eighth consecutive time.
