Ranji Trophy, 1964-65, North Zone League Matches
Delhi and Services once again topped in the North Zone.

The North Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1964-65 saw a fierce battle between 6 teams, who competed with each other for getting into the knock out level of the tournament. The teams included the state teams like Delhi, Southern Punjab, Northern Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir and also the non-state teams like Railways and Services. The teams like Delhi and Services became successful to clinch the top two positions in the zone and they also got a chance to compete with the other teams in the knock out level of the tournament.

The first of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1964-65 involved the teams like Jammu & Kashmir and Southern Punjab and the match was held at Srinagar from 18-20 September, 1964. As the match was drawn during its specified duration, the match officials awarded the Southern Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir teams 6 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Northern Punjab met with each other in the next match of the zone at Srinagar from 25-27 September, 1964. The drawn match saw the Northern Punjab team earning 5 points and Jammu & Kashmir earning 3 points from it. The Jammu & Kashmir team was present in the third match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Railways team at Srinagar from 02-04 October, 1964. The Railways team played very well in the match and earned 9 points by winning it with a margin of 185 runs.

The teams of Northern Punjab and Railways then played the fourth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1964-65, when they clashed with each other at Ludhiana from 09-11 October, 1964. The drawn match saw the Northern Punjab team earning 5 points and Railways earning 3 points from it. The next match involved the teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Services at Srinagar from 09-11 October, 1964, where the Services team won by 8 wickets for earning 8 points from it. The Railways team played against the Southern Punjab tam in the next match that was held at Patiala from 13-15 October, 1964. The Railways team became the winner of the match with a margin of 9 wickets for earning 8 points from it.

The next match saw a clash between the teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi at Srinagar from 16-18 October, 1964. Playing wonderfully in the match, the Delhi team won it by a huge margin of an innings and 43 runs to earn 9 points. The eighth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1964-65 involved the teams of the two teams of Punjab that are the Southern Punjab and Northern Punjab. The match was held at Patiala from 16-18 October, 1964. The match was drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Southern Punjab and Northern Punjab teams 5 and 3 points for the match. In the next match of the zone, the teams of Delhi and Southern Punjab clashed with each other at Delhi from 12-14 November, 1964. The drawn match saw the Southern Punjab team earning 5 points and Delhi team earning 4 points from it.

Then the teams of Northern Punjab and Services met with each other in the next match at Delhi from 12-14 November, 1964. The winner of the match was the Services team with a margin of an innings and 76 runs and it also earned 9 points from it. The Services team appeared in the next match of the North Zone also and this time, it played against the Southern Punjab team at Delhi from 16-18 November, 1964. The team played very well once again and earned 8 valuable points from the match by winning it with a margin of an innings and 27 runs. The match between the teams of Delhi and Northern Punjab was also held during the same timing from 16-18 November, 1964, at Delhi. The match saw the Delhi team winning by an innings and 99 runs and earning 8 valuable points from it.

The next match of the North Zone was played between the teams of Delhi and Services at Delhi from 21-23 November, 1964. The match saw a tough competition between the two teams and as it was drawn during the specified duration, the Delhi and Services teams earned 5 and 3 points, respectively from it. The Delhi team appeared in the next match of the North Zone as well and its opponent this time was the Railways team. The match was held at Delhi from 25-27 November, 1964 and it saw the Delhi team winning by a margin of 4 wickets and earning 8 valuable points from it. The last of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1964-65 saw a clash between the two powerful teams of Railways and Services and the match was held at Delhi from 30 November-02 December, 1964. As the match could not yield any result during its stipulated duration, the match officials awarded the Services and Railways teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match.
