Ranji Trophy, 1961-62, Central Zone League Matches
Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were the top two teams of the Central Zone.

The Central Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1961-62 was comprised of a number of 4 teams including the Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Vidarbha. All the teams were coming from the Central region of India and they competed with each other for getting a birth in the knock out level of the tournament. However, only the teams of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh became successful to do so form the Central Zone.

The first of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1961-62 was played between the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh at Indore from 15-17 December 1961. The match was drawn during its stipulated duration and the match officials decided to give the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. In the second match of the zone, the teams of Rajasthan and Vidarbha clashed with each other at Udaipur from 15-17 December 1961. The match saw the Rajasthan team winning by a good margin of 108 runs and earning 8 points from it.

The teams of Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha clashed with each other in the third of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1961-62. The match was held at Nagpur from 21-23 December, 1961 and it was drawn during its specified duration. The drawn match saw the Vidarbha team earning 5 points and Uttar Pradesh team earning 4 points from it. The next match involved the teams of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and as this match also went on to draw, the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh teams earned 5 and 4 points, respectively from it.

The Rajasthan team appeared in the fifth of the Central Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1961-62, as well and this time, it played against the Uttar Pradesh team. The match was held at Udaipur from 26-28 December, 1961 and this match also became a drawn one. The Uttar Pradesh team earned 5 points from the match and the earning of the Rajasthan team was 3 points. The last match of the Central Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1961-62 was played between the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. The match that was held at Nagpur from 12-14 January, 1962 turned out to be another drawn one. The Vidarbha team earned 5 points and Madhya Pradesh earned 3 points from the match.
