St. Xaviers College in Mumbai is among the prominent colleges of India known for imparting quality education.

St. Xaviers CollegeSt. Xaviers College in Mumbai is one of the earliest Indian colleges, which is famous for its focus on quality education and very strong extra-curricular activities like the renowned inter-collegiate festival, `Malhar`. This college got its name after St. Francis Xavier, a saint, of the 16th century. The St. Xaviers College was established by the Society of Jesus, a group which was started in the year 1540 by St. Ignatius. The exact location of this college is at 5, Mahanagarpalika Marg, Dhobi Talao in Mumbai.

The St. Xaviers College is one of the Catholic educational institutions in the metro city of Mumbai having a strong focus on critical and creative thinking. It also gives much importance to social transformation through education. The college was affiliated to the University Of Mumbai (Bombay) on the 30th of January, 1869. The college is famous for its academic excellence and several outstanding activities and also known for developing students into able individuals.

The St. Xaviers College in Mumbai offers degree courses in the fields of Commerce, Science and Arts. Even if it is well-known for its Arts stream, the college also includes other streams like science, management studies and mass media. The Junior College offers courses in Arts and Science, the Senior College offers courses like; Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Mass Media(B.M.M.) and Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S.). The college also provides various post-graduate degree courses in Science and Arts. P.HD can also be done in this college. The total number of seats offered by the St. Xaviers College is 330 in Arts and 330 Science. 50% of the total seats of the college are reserved for Christians.

The name, St. Xaviers College is in itself enough to draw students from all corners of the country. Apart from this, it is renowned for `Malhar`, the extravagant inter-collegiate festival, which is organized by the college every year in the month of August. It is likely among those selected colleges in Mumbai city which boasts of a gorgeous campus. The college architecture is Indo-Gothic in nature. 60 students can be accommodated in the college hostel and the senior students can only avail the hostel facility.

The campus of St. Xaviers College in Mumbai also holds some of the premium institutes like the Xaviers Institute of Management Research. It provides courses on Management. The courses are framed in order to develop managers of global standards. It looks at becoming a premium global management institute. Inside the campus of the St. Xaviers College there is another institute called the Xaviers Institute of Communications. It was founded in the year 1969 and ranks among the largest non-governmental media institute in entire Asia. Professional course in mass media ranging from courses on corporate communications to journalism, advertising and digital technology, it also provides diploma, certificate and distance education courses.

Another institute by the name of Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture is also within the campus of the St. Xaviers College. The institute was established in the year 1926 and aims at promoting Cultural and Historical research in India.

Some of the famous Alumni of the St. Xaviers College in the city of Mumbai include Anil Kapoor (actor), Shabana Azmi (actor), Gerson Da Cunha (advertising professional), Alque Padamshee (advertising professional and playwright), Sunil Gavaskar (cricketer), Rajdeep Sardesai (journalist), etc.

Affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the St. Xaviers College is situated at the Metro area in the colonial Mumbai district. The college is conveniently located in the city which can be easily reached from the Marine Lines railway station and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
