Mithibai College in Mumbai was established in 1961 and it offers degree courses in Arts, Science, Commerce and Economics to the students.

Mithibai College of Arts and Chauhan Institute of Science, located in Y.L.Mehta Road, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, was established by the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal, during its Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1961. As an extension to this, the Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics was added in 1980, thereby forming the present multi-faculty college of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college has around 14200 students, 287 teachers and 190 non-teaching staff and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have graded Mithibai College with "B++" rating.

Objective of Mithibai College
The main object of Mithibai College is to impart knowledge to the students based on their chosen field and to support the students to reach their fullest potential and prepare them for a better future. The aim of the college is to prepare the students with good moral values who would play a vital role in the improvement of the society.

History of Mithibai College
Founded in the year 1961 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal, Mithibai College of Arts and Mohanlal Dayal Chauhan Institute of Science, was inaugurated initially as the main colleges. Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics was added in 1980, 19 years after the establishment of the original college.

Courses offered by Mithibai College
Other than Arts, Science, Commerce and Economics, various essential courses like B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree courses in Computer Science, Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Bachelor of Management Studies, are offered by Mithibai College. The Arts department has the Psychology Association, Hindi Parisabha, Gujarati Sahitya MandaI, French Association, Marathi Vagmay Mandal, English Associaton, Quiz, Elocution, Essay and Debate Society.

In the 3 year degree course, an Honours Program is also offered by Mithibai College in order to equip the students with the industry exposure and knowledge. To help the students stand out in the competitive market, the college undertakes programmes like personality development, entrepreneurs skills, communication skills, stress management as well as providing training for interviews.

Mithibai College has also launched the MHT-CET Guidance Programme, in order to support the HSC students preparing for competitive exams like AIEEE, MHT-CET and others. The Guidance Programme thoroughly prepares the students and conducts MCQ tests to find out the weakness areas of the students.

Facilities of Mithibai College
The library of Mithibai College consists of more than 57,000 books, 109 journals and periodicals. There are also a number of computer labs solely dedicated for the use of the students. Moreover, the college has state of the art sports facilities and encourages the students to participate in various sporting events. The students of Mithibai College have won the Guru Nanak General Championship Trophy, conducted by the University of Mumbai, for 12 years in a row.

Mithibai College also has the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Brave Hearts and has an organized unit of teachers and students from Junior and Degree College. The college also has the National Service Scheme (NSS), which works on various projects for the improvements of the society, particularly for the poor and destitute and the people affected by disasters. Mithibai College also has a Students` Council, with the Principal as Chairman.

The alumni of Mithibai College comprises of a number of popular actors from bollywood and also other renowned celebrities like Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Sushmita Sen, Raima Sen and Riya Sen, Raveena Tandon, Tusshar Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Harman Baweja, Esha Deol, Anu Malik, Ayesha Takia, Sudha Chandran, Rakhi Sawant, Madhu Sapre, Aditya Narayan, Urmila Matondkar, Sarah Jane Dias, Bhagyashree, popular Percussionist Rahul Sharma and writer Sourendra Kumar Das.

Mithibai College is associated with various bodies like Nature Club, Psychology Association, Debate and Elocution Association, Rotaract Club of Mithibai College, Geography Association and others. The college also has a placement cell that assists the students and offers opportunities to the students to get recruited in major companies. Mithibai College also has a program to prepare the students for job interviews and placement.
