The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is one of the members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and it is the governing body of the Cricket activities in the state of Tamil Nadu. The TNCA is also in charge of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and it is responsible for all kinds of cricket related activities in the state of Tamil Nadu. The association also bears the responsibilities for organising and conducting various types of cricket matches, including the international and also the nursery levels in the state, on behalf of BCCI.
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) was established in the year of 1933, with an objective to promote and develop the game of Cricket by conducting various League Tournaments, in the state. It has been operating its activities for achieving that objective and it currently organises a number of tournaments in Tamil Nadu. It organises tournaments for the age group Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories and also conducts National Tournaments. The Association is in charge of conducting the SPIC-TNCA League Championship for the City affiliated Clubs and there are a huge number of 726 league matches played every year from First division to Fifth division.
The city league format of Tamil Nadu is considered to be one of the best in the country especially in first division. According to the format created by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, the league matches are played on three-day duration as per the Ranji Trophy guidelines. The association has also become successful in inviting the big corporate houses for investing for the development of cricket in the state and the corporate sponsorship alone in the first division runs to over Rs.6 crores towards players` allowances, cricket equipments, ground maintenance etc. Apart from that, the corporate houses also make investments, when the state team participates in the outstation tournaments.
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is having a number of 28 affiliated District Cricket Associations in Tamil Nadu and there are also a large number of 780 participating clubs in the districts. The association conducts tournaments for different age categories in the districts of Tamil Nadu and it also supplies free balls and mats to the Districts every year. The Association is now preparing itself for celebrating its Platinum Jubilee (75th year) this year. Mr. N. Srinivasan is the representative for the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association in the BCCI, at the moment.
