Ranji Trophy, 1957-58, South Zone League Matches
Five teams competed with each other in this zone.

Just like the other Zones in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58, the South Zone was also made of the teams that hail from the Southern part of India. There were 5 teams in this Zone and the teams included the likes of Madras, Kerala, Hyderabad, Mysore and Andhra. All the teams competed with each other for getting into the knock out level of the tournament and eventually vie for the trophy.

The first league match of the South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58 was played between the teams of Madras and Kerala at Madurai from 09-11 November, 1957. The Madras team with a margin of 7 wickets won the match and the team earned 8 points from the match. The second match of the South Zone saw the teams of Mysore and Kerala playing against each other at Mangalore from 30 November-02 December, 1957. The Mysore team played well to beat the Kerala team by an innings and 71 runs and earned the entire 9 points from the match. The Hyderabad and Madras teams clashed with each other in the next match at Hyderabad from 30 November-02 December, 1957. The match was drawn and the officials awarded 5 points to Madras and 3 points to Hyderabad for the match.

The next league match of the South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58 was held at Bangalore from 13-15 December, 1957, between the teams of Madras and Mysore. As the match was drawn, the Mysore team got 5 points and Madras team earned 3 points from the match. Then, the Hyderabad and Kerala teams played against each other at Hyderabad from 16-18 December, 1957, where the Hyderabad team won by an innings and 19 runs. This win helped the Hyderabad team earning the entire 9 points from the match. The match between the teams of Andhra and Kerala was held at Tellicherry from 28-29 December, 1957. The Andhra team won the match by an innings and 21 runs and earned 8 points from it.

The teams of Mysore and Andhra competed against each other in the next league match of the South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58, at Bangalore from 03-05 January, 1958. The Mysore team with a margin of 109 runs won the match and it also earned the full 9 points from the match. The next match of the South Zone involved the teams of Andhra and Madras and the match was held at Guntur from 13-15 January, 1958. The drawn match earned the Andhra team 5 points and the Madras team also got 3 points from the match. Then, the Hyderabad and Mysore teams met with each other at Hyderabad from 18-20 January, 1958 and the Hyderabad team won the match by 5 runs. The team also earned the total 9 points from the match. The Hyderabad team also appeared in the last league match of the South Zone against the Andhra team. However, Hyderabad got a walk over from Andhra in this match.
