Maharajashri, Indian Saint
The fear of death led Maharajashri to the path of spirituality.

Maharajashri, Indian SaintOne of the very famous saints in India, Maharajashri was born at Maharai village in Varanasi, on 25th July 1911 and he was famous by the name of `Shantanuvihari`, during his childhood. However, some of the astrologers of that time did predict that the child that is Maharajashri was going to die at the age of only 19 years and it was this fear of death that led Maharajashri to the path of spirituality.

At a very young age, Maharajashri came to know the fact that though death is unavoidable, one can easily destroy the fear of death through spiritual knowledge. After attaining this great knowledge, he decided to get lessons about spiritualism and he became a member of the editorial board of the `Kalyana` in Gorakhpur, at a very young age. He was also initiated as Brahamanand Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of the Jyotishpeeth, at a later period.

Maharajashri was very fond of Shrimed Bhagvata Purana from his childhood and this Purana also remained as his best companion throughout his life. After attaining enough knowledge about spiritualism and forming his own ideology and thoughts, he established an Ashram at Prayag where the celebration of his birth anniversary is part and parcel of different activities organized at Ashram, at the moment. He passed away on 19th November 1987.
