Bhartrihari was a Sanskrit grammarian.

Bhartrihari was a Sanskrit grammarian. He lived in the century preceding the Christian era. Bhartrihari was the brother of Vikramaditya. Bhartrihari wrote a grammatical treatise.

Vakya Pradipa or Metrical Maxims on the philosophy of Syntax are the best known works of Bhartrihari. These works of Bhartrihari are often cited under the name of Harikarika. These have almost equal authority with the teachings of Panini. Bhartrihari`s Satakas or centuries of verses are also much admired.
