Bala Chakravarti is a renowned giant, who was slain by Vishnu.

Bala Chakravarti is a renowned giant or Daitya. Lord Vishnu had slain him along with Narakasura after a huge conflict. The conflict between Bala Chakravarti and Vishnu ended as the sun went down and Vishnu could not perform his diurnal ablutions during the day-time. Vishnu had to make them at night. Thereafter, the Brahmans at the `Dipavali habba` bathe at night once a year, which is a nocturnal ceremony of great merit, conducted with solemnity.
