Ayati was one of the descendants of the daughters of Daksha.

Ayati was one of the descendants of the daughters of Daksha. These daughters are those who were married to the Rishis. Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu was the daughter of Bhrigu by Kayati. Their two sons, Dhatri and Vidhatri married Ayati and Niryati, the two daughters of the illustrious Meru. Each of them had a son by each of the wives. These sons were named Prana and Mrikanda.
