Vindhya shakti was succeeded by his son Pravarsena. The puranas describe him as Pravir. He was a very powerful king and adopted the title of `Samrat.` It is said that besides performing four house sacrifices i.e. Aswamedh yajana he also had performed other yajanas. As for example aptoryam, vajpeya, joti-jyotishtom, brihaspatisana, shadasyaka etc. He had further enhanced his power and influence by marrying his son, Gautamiputra with the daughter of the famous king Bhavanga of the Naga-Bhara-Siva dynasty.
Inscriptions indicate that he had converted his ancestral property into a big empire. His empire extended to Belaghat in the east-southern, Berar in the south and the province of Hyderabad in the north. Probably he had shifted his capital from Chanakato Purika. It appears that Pravar Sena had conquered Malva, Berar, Northern Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, Kathiavar, Bundelkhand and some portions of southern Kosala. According to Dr. Jayaswal, Pravar Sena had also conquered certain portions of northern India but this view does not seem to be correct because at that time Gupta Empire was flourishing in the northern India.
