East Indian Rosebay is a tiny perpetual shrub. It has a circular stem of approximately 25 cm diameter, with a greyish white, coarse, roughened, silvery bark. It grows upto 2 metres in height.

The plant has several branches forming a thick treetop. It has elongated, plain, elliptical leaves, dark green in colour; the flowers are prominent, soft white and exquisitely fine with a fresh fragrance. The plant issues a viscous milky juice when any portion is trimmed. East Indian Rosebay contains alkaloids, tabernaemontanim and coronarine, a crystalline resin alcohol, caoutchouc and some other substances.

Preparation and Doses - Approximately 20 grams of the leaves of East Indian rosebay plant with five grams of holy basil (tulsi) or eclipta alba (bringaraf) may be masticated well and gulped down. Fresh petals can also be used along with the leaves.
