West of Leh
This is a serene and calm place far away from one`s monotonous life gifted with splendid gompas and ancient.

There are many scenic and spectacular Gompas that are located on the west region, but the Gompas located in Spitok and Phyang are the most wonderful places to visit on day-trips from Leh. Phyang is located in Ladakh`s village which is best known for its picturesque and tenderness gift of nature. It gives a feeling of ecstasy and warmth. Further as we ascend upwards we get to see antique pieces of art and architecture, murals and gompas including the places of Likkir and the most beautiful complex of Alchi that is preserved from the ancient eleventh century. These places can be observed while passing from the route to kargil. These places are located on 231 km stretch which has a combination of high passes and some of the most splendid scenic beauties.

One of the greatest places that arrive in the midst of the former caravan route is the awesome monastery of Lamayuru. While climbing the mountain it can be a thrilling experience because the route up in the Indus valley is quite twisty and tortuous. Following the track in more advancement, beyond the dramatic Namika La pass, you will come across the village of Mulbekh which is the last ancient Buddhist village. From here onwards, you will find onion-shaped domed mosques and graceful salwar kameez. Further, on the twisting Leh-kargil road there is a accident a day on an average, because the road is narrow as well as jagged. Tata trucks are particularly more prone to meet accidents and tumble down the way and the rescue vehicles can take lot of time to arrive from the Leh-Kargil road and then clear the roads.
